October
|
Autumn is here and it brings with it dark misty mornings, and shortening days. The MetOffice has forecast an average to slightly warmer winter than usual, which also means it could be slightly wetter than normal. This months jobs are to clear the garden of dead plants, fallen leaves and dig the ground in preparation for the winter.
Over wintering vegetables will need some protection from frosts, wind and snow fall. Make sure you have enough cloches, netting and fleece.
Don't think of October as the end of the gardening year, as it is actually the start of the new year. Time to reflect on this years successes and failures and plan for next year.
Oh, and get your sweetpeas in the greenhouse!
